On the occasion of the launch of the study entitled “Fossil Fuels Subidies in Brazil: Learn, Assess and Reform!” prepared by Inesc, we prepared a social networking campaign on the theme, drawing attention to the climate, social and environmental impacts of fossil fuel subsidies in Brazil.
The document estimated that Brazil spends about R$68 billion per year on subsidies for fossil fuels, that is, 1% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or the equivalent of more than two Bolsa Família programs.
The campaign aims to monitor annual fossil fuel subsidies, demand more transparency from the government, and commit to a reform agenda for these subsidies.
