Socio-environment and the Amazon

Brazil has socio-environmental challenges fitting for the vastness and complexity of its territory. To guarantee the right to a healthy environment and to end deforestation, it is necessary to recognize and respect the rights of indigenous peoples, Quilombolas, and other traditional communities to their territories and ways of life.

To do this, we need to create a new development matrix, in which investments enhance – and not violate – rights. We act to foster, advise, and strengthen the articulation processes of socio-environmentalist movements, and the participation and political representation of these collective actors in the areas of definition, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies and development.
